UConn On-Campus Tailgating Policy

STORRS CAMPUS TAILGATING GUIDE

  • Parking lots are open 3 hours prior to the start of the game. Tailgating must conclude at the start of the game. Tailgating during and/or after the game is not permitted. 
  • Parking is on a first come, first served basis. Reserving spaces for guests who have not arrived yet is not permitted. 
  • Tailgating is permitted only directly behind your vehicle and cannot take up other parking spaces or block traffic from moving. 
  • Vehicles may not be driven around the tailgating area, only to enter and exit. 
  • Only well-maintained propane grills are permitted and must be attended to until turned off and extinguished. Individuals operating propane grills are encouraged to have fire extinguishers and first aid kits readily available. 
  • All beverages must be in aluminum or plastic containers. 
  • Proper disposal of trash is required. Trash must be brought home with you or disposed of in a University dumpster. 

PROHIBITED: 

1. Amplified sound, including bands and DJs, unless hired by UConn

2. Box trucks or large vans with seating for more than eight people

3. Household furniture (e.g., couches, bar structures, etc.) 

4. Rapid, excessive and/or irresponsible consumption of alcoholic beverages 

5. Open flames, campfires, fireworks and bonfires 

6. Solicitation and vending 

7. Kegs or glass containers 

8. Public urination or indecency 

9. Tents larger than 10x10 

10. Charcoal grills 

11. Weapons

12. Vehicles left idling


 RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Students and their guests ("Participants”) are allowed to participate in tailgating. 
  • Student hosts are responsible for the actions of their guests and are expected to take reasonable action to prevent guests from violating University policies and Regulations. 
  • Participants must at all times comply with all applicable state and federal laws and University Policies and Regulations, including without, as it pertains to consumption of alcoholic beverages. 
  • Participants are reminded to drink and act responsibly. Game management personnel have the right to deny entry or remove fans from the stadium who exhibit inappropriate, irresponsible, and/or dangerous behavior. 
  • The UConn Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency on campus and will be responsible for enforcing state laws as they pertain to the behaviors of those attending games. UConn Police are specifically assigned to many athletic competitions.
